Most project managers drift into program work before anyone gives them the title. A product launch has four workstreams, each with its own manager, and somebody has to decide which one gets the scarce engineers. A merger needs eleven projects to land in the right order. A regulatory change touches three countries and a dozen teams. If you are the person fielding those calls, you are already doing part of the job. What is usually missing is a way to prove it, to a hiring manager or to yourself.
